Teleconsults For Pets

For anxious pets with milder medical issues, you can consult a veterinarian from the comfort of your home, via our convenient online teleconsultation service.

Concerned about your pet’s health and well-being, but worried that a trip to the vet clinic might potentially cause them anxiety? Our teleconsultation services enables you to speak to a doctor remotely via a video call — allowing you to connect with a veterinarian without coming down personally to the clinic premises.

Is Teleconsult Suited For My Pet?

This virtual service is ideal for minor and non-urgent medical concerns. Examples may include mild skin and coat issues like itching, hair loss, dry skin; minor eye problems such as watery discharge or squinting; and to check on your pet’s healing progress after a minor or routine surgery.

*Important note: Teleconsultation is not suitable for serious or urgent issues and emergencies. If you observe or suspect a medical emergency such as ingesting toxic substances or a severe injury, or if your pet shows symptoms such as choking, severe pain, difficulty breathing, or vomiting blood — a trip to a vet clinic or emergency animal hospital is always recommended for a thorough in-person examination.

Meanwhile, teleconsultations are also ideal for anxious pets. If your furkid tends to get stressed during vet visits, consulting the veterinarian over an online video call will let them remain at home, in a familiar and calming environment, while you discuss their health with their doctor.

In line with our Fear-Free philosophy, we prioritise minimising fear, stress, and anxiety for your pet.

Preparing For A Teleconsultation

To connect with your veterinarian virtually, you will first require a stable Internet connection, be it through WiFi or mobile data.

This allows for a real-time interaction with the veterinarian, who can assess your pet visually and clearly, and discuss your concerns in detail without interruption to the call.

Most of our teleconsultations are carried out via WhatsApp video calls. If this is not available, please download the free Zoom app on your device before your scheduled teleconsultation appointment.

To ensure a smooth and efficient remote video consultation, here’s what you can prepare beforehand:

1. Past medical records (if available)
2. Weighing scale (if available)
3. A well-lit area for your pet so that the veterinarian can see and assess your pet clearly during the video call
4. A stable Internet connection in your area to avoid disruptions during the consultation

What Happens During a Teleconsult?

After you have connected with our veterinarian via video call, he or she will assess your pet’s condition.

The veterinarian will then do one or more of the following:

Provide professional veterinary advice on your pet’s condition
Prescribe medications or recommend specific treatments if appropriate
Recommend a house visit — in this case, if a housecall consultation is booked with our Paws N’ Claws team, the teleconsultation charges will be waived
Recommend a referral to another vet clinic, with advice on specific clinic options you can consider

Important note: Not all medical conditions are suitable for teleconsultations. Our veterinarians are dedicated to providing the best advice and care, and prioritise your pet’s well-being. As such, the vet may sometimes recommend that you visit a vet clinic for further diagnostics or treatments or a more thorough examination if necessary.

At the end of your teleconsultation, you’ll receive a summary of the consultation via your Whatsapp number or email address, for your reference.
