The Paws Team
The Team Behind Your Care!

Paws N’ Claws Veterinary Surgery is founded by Dr Esther Lam in 2021, a passionate veterinarian with a wealth of experience across busy vet practices and charities in the United Kingdom and Singapore. One of the few Fear-Free certified veterinarians in Singapore, you can rest assured that the entire practice is run on Fear-Free principles to make your pet’s vet visit as comfortable as possible.

Our practice is supported by a valued team of dedicated and well-trained professionals, who will make your time with us a seamless and supportive one.

Dr Esther Lam

BVMS (Glasgow), MRCVS
Senior Head Veterinarian

Dr Esther graduated in the United Kingdom from the University of Glasgow, where she made it into the Dean's Scholars list and was awarded with excellence in pharmacology and pathology. She is also a member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons.

Since then, she has worked at PDSA (UK's leading vet charity) and many busy practices in Singapore. She is passionate about animal welfare and continually strives to ease pets' discomfort and stress.

With her experience, she has seen and interacted with many pets with extreme anxiety in a clinic setting.

This prompted Dr Esther to take on a Fear-Free certification and she is now leading one of the only Fear-Free clinics in Singapore. Her calm and gentle manner has helped pets feel at ease in the clinic, reducing their anxiety and earned the trust of many patients, even those who hate vets!

Dr Esther strongly believes in Continuous Professional Development and is in the midst of gaining more knowledge on Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture. Dr Esther's special interests include internal medicine, ultrasonography and exotics medicine.

Outside of work, Dr Esther enjoys playing the piano, violin and leisure swimming. Paws N’ Claws Veterinary Surgery welcomes all animals and exotic pets. To ensure your pet receives the best quality care, we are fully equipped with an extensive range of services, facilities and a combination of both conventional and holistic medicine.

Cherie

Head Nurse

Cherie graduated from Republic Polytechnic with a Diploma in Biomedical Science and is currently continuing with her bachelor’s degree. She has always had an interest in working with animals, so she started to work in the veterinary field and enjoys being around animals and helping them with their recovery. She also has a soft spot for rabbits just like her own bunnies which are named “Muffin” (a naughty little Netherlands Dwarf) & “Mochi” (a Holland Lop that loves cuddling). During her leisure time, she also enjoys baking and cooking new food.

Jeremy

Veterinary Nurse

Jeremy loves animals especially dogs since he was a kid! Before joining Paws N Claws Jeremy used to foster a border collie named Broccoli with severe skin allergy. With ample research and understanding from vets, Jeremy was able to nurse Broccoli back into a pink health and Broccoli was eventually adopted into a loving family. Jeremy’s veterinary interests are veterinary anaesthetic monitoring and pharmaceuticals. Besides taking care of dogs and animals, Jeremy uses his free time to socialise with his friends and he loves singing! On the weekends he spends time to make delicious food for his family and his dog Fercha.

Pei Ying

Veterinary Nurse

Pei Ying loves animals since young and she has always wanted to work with animals. After discovering the joys of being a veterinary nurse, she decided to pursue a role in the veterinary industry. She is compassionate towards both the owners and pets, and she will do her best to understand your concerns for your pets. For Pei Ying, the most fulfilling thing as a veterinary nurse is when the furkid is nursed back to health. After trying different clinics, she decided to settle down in Paws N Claws due to the fear free concept and friendly atmosphere in the clinic. Paws N Claws has also given her many opportunities to learn and be exposed to veterinary-related cases. She is interested to further her studies in Veterinary Nursing and is currently doing her Cert IV veterinary nursing course.

Outside of work, Pei Ying loves to play PC games like Valorant, watch anime, read manga and play with her dog, Ghost.
